What sports can we expect to see in the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games?

Sports are still being finalized but are anticipated to include Track & Field (Athletics); Basketball; Bocce; Bowling; Competitive Cheer; Equestrian; Flag Football; Golf; Gymnastics; Powerlifting; Soccer; Softball; Swimming; Tennis; Volleyball

What are the dates for competition and events?

The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games will take place June 20-26, 2026. The USA Games will kick off with an exciting Opening Ceremony, followed by approximately six consecutive days of sports competitions.

Where will the USA Games be conducted? What venues will be used?

More than half of the sports competition will be hosted at the University of Minnesota, the rest will take place at other premier locations throughout the Twin Cities.

What can you tell us about Opening and Closing Ceremonies and other events?

All event details are still in development and will be announced closer to the USA Games.

Special Olympics is for everyone. This inclusive movement is made up of many roles: volunteers, coaches, team assistants, athletes, partners, donors, Unified partners and more!

Who is on Minnesota’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC)?

Working closely with Special Olympics Minnesota and Special Olympics North America, the Organizing Committee, led by Christy Sovereign, CEO, will be responsible for deploying a team of professionals, partners, volunteers, and agencies to fully staff, plan and run the USA Games now through 2026.
