Minnesota will host the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis-St.Paul, collectively known as the Twin Cities. Known for its welcoming community and vibrant culture, the Twin Cities offer world-class athletic venues and a wealth of amenities for athletes and visitors alike. Sporting competitions and special events will take place across the greater MSP area, showcasing premier locations such as the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and the National Sports Center in Blaine. Visitors can also explore the iconic Mall of America in Bloomington, one of the largest shopping and entertainment complexes in the world, featuring hundreds of stores, restaurants, and attractions. The region’s extensive transportation infrastructure, diverse entertainment options, and commitment to inclusivity make it a perfect backdrop for celebrating athletic excellence and the spirit of the Games.

University of Minnesota

The University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus, the flagship institution of the University of Minnesota system, will serve as a central hub for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Located in the heart of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the university will host 10 of the 16 sports, numerous special events—including the Opening Ceremony and one of three Fan Zones—and will house athletes in its dormitories throughout the week of the Games.

National Sports Center

The National Sports Center (NSC) in Blaine, Minnesota, is a premier sports complex encompassing over 600 acres of land dedicated to athletic development, competition, and recreation. Situated in the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities, the NSC hosts a diverse array of sporting events, tournaments, and training programs throughout the year, including the Special Olympics USA Games in 2026, where it will serve as the venue for 6 of the 16 sports competitions, and one of three Fan Zones.
