Daily Recap: Thursday Thrills and Championship Finals

High-stakes overtime drama captures a national audience, championships are crowned in Blaine, and the music rocks the night.

The competitive stakes reached a breathtaking peak on Thursday, June 25th, for the penultimate day of the 2026 USA Games. It was a monumental day of championship action as competitions arrived at their thrilling finales in nearly every sport. The National Sports Center in Blaine went out in spectacular fashion, serving as the backdrop for a massive wave of gold-medal moments and emotional send-offs. The crown jewel of the afternoon was the hotly anticipated Unified 5v5 Flag Football championship game between Team Massachusetts and Team Tennessee, broadcast live to a national audience on the NFL Network.

The gridiron showdown at NSC Stadium absolutely lived up to the hype, showcasing elite sportsmanship and heart from both delegations. After an intense, back-and-forth battle, the teams were deadlocked in a 32-32 tie at the end of regulation time. In a nail-biting overtime period, Team Massachusetts managed to break through to secure the ultimate victory, though both teams walked away as true champions after putting on one of the most memorable performances of the entire Games.

Off the field, the celebration continued with the second official Family Night. Delegations and their loved ones had a second chance to catch a special screening of the box-office hit Toy Story 5 inside the 3M Arena at Mariucci. Meanwhile, just across the street, Thrivent Fan Fest was absolutely rocking. Minneapolis’ own Viva Knievel took the stage, delivering a high-energy performance packed with rock classics, funk grooves, and modern favorites that kept the crowd dancing long after the final whistles blew.
