MDI Fan Zone

The MDI Fan Zone at Mall of America transforms one of Minnesota’s most iconic destinations into an immersive, indoor celebration that brings the mission of the Special Olympics to life. Serving as a hub of community engagement for the Games, this space offers fans of all ages a personal look at the movement’s history and impact through hands-on exhibits, a Law Enforcement Torch Run display, and competition highlights featured on a large video screen. While it shares the festive spirit of the other Fan Zones, the MDI Fan Zone focuses on educational engagement, offering arts and crafts, “Toddler Tuesday” programming for Young Athletes, and an official USA Games merchandise store. Located within the heart of the mall in the Huntington Bank Rotunda, it provides a welcoming, come-and-go environment where visitors can connect with the Games’ legacy and discover how to get involved in their own communities.

Here is what you’ll find at this one-of-a-kind destination:

• Young Athletes Festival (6/23): In celebration of Toddler Tuesday at Mall of America, join us for the second day of our festival! This session focuses on education and development through fun motor-skill challenges designed for our youngest champions. Learn more and register for the festival here!
• MDI Activation: Step into our interactive partner space operated by MDI. This educational activation offers an engaging look at how inclusion drives innovation, giving fans an opportunity to connect with the mission in a hands-on, meaningful way.
• Merchandise Pop-Up: Back by popular demand! We’re bringing the spirit of the 2026 USA Games Fan Central store from last year back to the Mall. Stop by this special pop-up station to snag official 2026 USA Games gear and limited-edition items, curated from our online store.
• History Wall: Take a journey through time with our immersive History Wall. This large-scale infographic allows you to literally walk through the inspiring evolution of Special Olympics and the USA Games. Discover the milestones, the heroes, and the powerful history of the mission we celebrate today.
• Activity Stations: This Fan Zone is packed with arts and crafts tables for bracelet-making and poster-designing, plus a spin-the-wheel giveaway station where everyone has a chance to score. Don’t forget to grab a souvenir photo at our awards replica photo op!
